Depression Treatment
What Depression (MDD) Can Look Like
Major Depressive Disorder is more than sadness. It can look like low energy that doesn't improve with rest, loss of interest in things you used to enjoy, trouble concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, or a heaviness that makes even small tasks feel overwhelming. Depression can be quiet — many people keep functioning on the outside while struggling significantly underneath. You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable to get support.
How I Approach Depression Treatment
My focus is medication management — working with you to find a treatment approach that addresses the underlying biology of depression, not just the symptoms on the surface. We'll discuss your history, what you've tried before, and what your day-to-day life looks like right now. Therapy support is available alongside medication management when it fits your goals and treatment plan.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
- An in-depth conversation about your symptoms, history, and current functioning
- A safety check-in, as is standard and important in any mental health evaluation
- Discussion of treatment options and what's realistic for your situation
- A follow-up plan (typically every 6–8 weeks) to track how you're responding and adjust the plan over time
Frequently Asked Questions
What if this is the first time I've sought treatment?
-That's completely fine — many patients are reaching out for the first time, and the first visit is built to meet you where you are, without judgment.
How long until antidepressant medication starts working?
-Typically a few weeks for initial effects, with fuller benefit over 6-8 weeks. We'll check in regularly during this period to monitor how you're doing.
Is therapy required alongside medication?
-No — medication management is the core service I provide. Therapy support can be added if and when it makes sense for you.
